Outdoor activities

If you and your family are a fan of the outdoors, and you’re keen to get some fresh air and exercise then Atlantic Sea Kayaking in Baltimore is the activity for you. Alternatively, Cork Sea Safari have some great harbour tours that are full of adventure and excitement.

If animals are more your thing, then Rumley’s Open farm provides an excellent day out for the whole family. The farm is suitable for children of all ages. Alternatively, Fota Wildlife Park is a 75-acre wildlife park located on Fota Island. Its home to a range of mammals and bird species and offers a great day out for all the family. As one of the biggest tourist attractions in Cork, it’s not to be missed.

Indoor activities

Because Ireland is Ireland, and it very often rains in this beautiful part of the world, we need to provide a contingency plan to keep the family entertained during your trip to the beautiful South West. The Lifetime Lab in Cork provides an interactive exhibition into the world of science and a whole host of other activities that will keep the minds of your little ones occupied for hours! Alternatively, the CIT Blackrock Observatory has ongoing exhibitions throughout the year that will teach people of all ages about the universe in an exciting and engaging environment. While we’re on te subject of teaching, the Cork Butter Exchange and Museum is a great place to learn about the history of Irish butter.

If it’s activity you’re after, then the Rollerjam in Ballincollig will be perfect for all those that enjoy roller skating – suitable for the whole family! Monkey Maze is also an ideal location if you have younger kids that you would like to keep occupied. It’s Europe’s largest indoor activity centre and is a real hit with the kid’s in Cork.

After a long day of being a tourist, sometimes all you want to do is relax and watch a movie. Located in Cork’s city centre the Gate cinema is centrally located and shows all recent releases.  With it’s 6 screens (and 3D enabled), the cinema has Full Dolby Digital sound and luxury seating. Located on Corks North Main street, it is only a short walk from the hotel and ideal fun for all the family in Cork.

If you’re on for something a little different, located 13km outside of Cork, the Movie Junction drive in cinema gives you a nostalgic flavour of times past with its drive in experience. Whether you are just bringing your children to see the latest Disney release, or a classic as you treat the family to a night out with a difference, memories will be made.
