Had a short but sweet stay in the Maldron hotel in Cork. I have stayed in other Maldron hotels and have always found them to be excellent quality and value for money and their Cork base is no different. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, the room was perfect and location is great for walking into the City. We didn't get time to use the restaurant or leisure facilities this time but hopefully another time.

I thourghly enjoyed my stay at the Maldron..The food was excellent, the staff friendly and hard working. The rooms were well stocked with towels , kettle for tea/coffee, ironing board etc. The pool was what I enjoyed the most being able to relax with an early morning swim, I would have preferred if the pool was open at 7 prior to children coming for lessons at eightish., that would be my only complaint. . Apart from that I would certainly be willing to stay at the maldron again.

I found the room to be value for money - clean and covered all the bases in what you would expect. Food from the bar was also quite good also. Found staff very polite and would defintiely come back again. If there was anything negative to mention - it would be location - but this does not distract from my overall feelings . I would recommend it to anyone.

I have stayed at this hotel twice before as it's location is good for me and the 2 nights B&B and 1 dinner package was a good deal. However, I will try to find alternate accommodation in Cork for my next visit. The lack of secure parking is a major drawback for me. The worst part of my stay were the rooms I was allocated. On arrival I was allocated a room on the first floor. I found the carpet en route on the corridors to be very dirty and the long corridor that led to the room was freezing cold. I discovered that a window on the corridor was open and that it could not be closed. My room was warm inside however there was a really loud noise of wind howling and I discovered the noise was coming from the room door and was accompanied by a huge draft coming through the door. The remote control for the tv did not work in this room either. I asked to be moved as I really needed a good nights sleep. I was moved to a family room on the 3rd floor and this room also had it's problems. The room had a very bad odour of stale cigarette smoke even though it was designated as non-smoking. There was no waste basket in the room and the very large bathroom was freezing. I found that the decor in both rooms and bathrooms I was allocated was in need of refurbishment (chipboard panels around baths particularly, curtains hanging, ceilings in bad repair) and in all honesty could not rate this hotel more than three stars. The only saving grace for this hotel is the standard of the food served for breakfast and dinner and the helpfulness of its restaurant staff. I have always found the food to be consistently excellent and good value on my visits to this hotel.

My stay was good and will re-book again. The only down side was the parking, because I was arriving back after 6.30 each night, thecar park was always full. I had to use the street which was ticket controlled in the morning. Not ideal if you start a bit later in the day and if you end up. Parking at the top of the hill. .

I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Originally I was placed in a room which I felt was not up to standard for the price I had paid. It was room 506 the room was cold I asked three times for the heating to be put on but nothing happened. The wind was blowing through the window and the furniture was old and chipped.
After the third time of asking for heat the very nice receptionist moved me to a far nicer room which was warmer and brighter, this made my stay so much more enjoyable. The food was good , room was clean and everything else was good. I don't know the standard of the other rooms but I would not want to stay in a room like 506 again.
Top marks for the receptionists.
Yours

The first room we were assigned to - Room 124 was very cold. There was an electric heater left in the room with one wheel broken on it. The water was lukewarm and decor was poor and in need of an update. When I asked at reception if we were suppose to leave the electric heater on all the time in order to heat the room the girl on reception moved us up to room 407 without any problem or fuss. Much nicer room, lovely and warm, loads of hot water and a lovely view out on church grounds. Breakfast was ok. Cereal and toast fine. Cooked breakfast not very appetizing to look at and looked like it had been there a while with the beans and eggs stirred occasionally to keep them from totally coagulating. Overall nice stay. Location excellent and no need to bring the car once you are parked up

I normally stayed at Jurys Inn - Andersons Quay on my visits to Cork. The Maldron was recommended to me by a close relative who lives in Cork. I must say I am glad I gave it a chance. The General Manager - Michael Lally, was very warm and welcoming, not to mention his dedicated staff who couldn't do enough for me. As for chef Noreen's scrambled egg, I never tasted better. So my slogan from here on in will be..
"The Maldron - Cork City: This Time, Next Time, Every Time!"

The staff at the hotel were very welcomoning and friendly,we had food in the bar on both nights and found the food very good and reasonable. We have stayed in another Maldron Hotel and found the standard of the room to be poor in comparison. In the bathroom the fixtures were not up to standard ie:shower curtain some electrical fixtures were loose this was not good as we had small children would of liked more thing for the children to do playground would be good .Breakfast was goos and plenty of variety and lots of it.
The parking facility was poor but realise is it in the city centre.
We found the gym and leisure facilities very good, overall we had a good stay.

GOOD LOCATION & BIG ROOM FOR 2 ADULTS & 2 COTS.
Stayed for only 1 night, but was comfortable and reasonable value for money to include breakfast. Swimming pool was nice and bonus of a toddler pool which we used both. Fairly warm and good changing facilities, although 3 Euro each for mandatory swim cap was a bit steep.
Our room 404 was perfect for 18 month twins. Big enough for them to run around and bath made for a good nights sleep. Location was perfect to explore Shandon and Cork. We had dinner at the Four Liars Bistro (just up past the hotel towards the church) which I'd definitely recommend too.
Breakfast buffet at the hotel was very good. Nice choice of cooked food, cereal, croissants and fruits. The plentiful high chairs was also a bonus for us.
Some negatives - the lift took an absolute age each and every time we used it. Some of the decor and furniture is looking a bit tired and dated. The car park was very tight and we were lucky to squeeze in to a spot (although considering it's location to be free, you can't really complain about it).
All in all a good stay we enjoyed and would definitely stay there again for the right price.

The room was clean and warm and there was loads of hot water.
However, the two hair driers were useless - the black one had a broken plug while the white one overheated after less than two minutes and tripped out. Had to wait to let it cool down - I hate those hairdryers!
Not enough towels either.
The bird scarer recorded sounds was irritating and didn't scare the pigeons away - they hung and cooed at our window, which was covered in bird poop - nice!
€69 was good for two people but it's not the nicest Maldron I've stayed in.
Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Get the essentials right and people will put up with old furniture, etc. and return.

In particular, a male member of your staff kept the disabled parking spot free for us, even when we popped out in the car Saturday evening. This was very helpful because our disabled son was staying with us.

We love the Maldron Cork because of the access to the Swimming pool for the kids and it's great close location to the City centre. We have stayed here on approx 6 times. This time we (2 adults 2 kids) stayed for two nights in room 506. This room is very poor and in need of repair. No heating working, window very badly in need of repair from draught and also very dangerous for kids (no safety lock). There is serious noise in the room when the shower/toilet is used in the adjoining room (507 I think). The staff are nice and friendly and the food was good. Management just need to sort some repairs and make sure this hotel is safe for young children. Rating = 2.

We booked a Double room and we were given a room with 2 single beds, room smelt of smoke and we had to wait quiet a few minuites for hot water. only 1 bedside lamp.Rang to arrange towels to use the swimming pool at 8.50 a.m. and were unable to use pool as we were told it was too busy with swimming lessons which went on until 12 p.m. and at which time we had to checkout. Overall dissapointed.

The room ad staff were quite nice and up to a good standard. However, there were 2 things that made the stay less comfortable. The bed was very firm and not comfortable at all. As well, the 'spa' in the hotel was just a fitness centre with a small pool, over chlorinated whirlpool, and unkempt steam room and sauna. We were very disappointed that the spa was of such a low standard as we were planning to spend a good bit of time there.

We stayed for two nights in the maldron this weekend. I must say the staff are very friendly and the hotel is in the perfect location, which is about 5 minutes walk for the town but it was also not in the middle of all the pubs and clubs. Breakfast was lovely, maybe a little over priced at €12. We did not eat in the restaurant but in the bar instead. The food was beautiful bar food and very reasonably and the waitress and the chefs catered to our every last request. The only thing is the hotel rooms are not much. They were very clean and We still had a flat screen tv and everything but the room just seemed a bit too over lived in, now that is just me being picky. The only other thing, and this really did bug me at one stage was how thin the walls are. I would never usually complain about something like that but seriously every time someone closed their door in the middle of the night you would wake up. And I could hear people's conversations word for word. That would be the only bad point. But don't let it put you off staying, food is great and the staff even better.

The hotel is situated in a nice part of the city and is within walking distance of shops, theatre, cinemas etc. Rooms are average size but the double beds are a bit on the small side. Parking although free, can be a major issue with limited spaces available meaning you have to try find a spot on the street if you can't get in. This may mean having to feed meters depending on the time of day. The bar is fairly bland and comes complete with big screen tellys blaring sport non stop. Not great for conversation. We ate once in the bar and the bar food was awful. Cheap catering stuff in beadcrumbs served with frozen chips - the kind food you get in a roadside cafe, not what you expect in a hotel. Maybe the A la Carte menu was better but we didn't try it a second time. We did order breakfast in bed and were disappointed to find out it was a cold breakfast - nothing hot available as room service. So for the pricey sum of €14.50 we got a yoghurt, cereal, tea and toast. It came without a knife to spread the butter so we ended up using the spoon. Room prices were average for a city centre hotel so no complaints there. They is a nice leisure centre but we didn't use it so I can't comment on it. Would I stay again? Highly unlikely.
